Family Photos with their Horses and Dogs in Argyle, Texas
Family photos don’t have to happen in a studio or in front of a perfectly styled backdrop. For families who spend their time around horses, dogs, and the outdoors, a ranch or private property can be the perfect setting for family portraits.
This recent family photography session in Argyle, Texas included the people who matter most to this family, along with their horses and their dogs. The result was a relaxed collection of portraits that feels like their family and reflects the lifestyle they actually enjoy.
Argyle Texas Family Photographer
Argyle is one of my favorite areas for family photography in North Texas. With its combination of ranch properties, open fields, mature trees, and horse-friendly locations, there are plenty of options for creating family portraits that feel natural rather than overly posed.
For families with horses, Argyle and the surrounding Denton County area offer an especially beautiful setting. Horses become part of the session rather than simply being included in a few photographs.
During an equestrian family photography session, I focus on the interactions between family members and their animals — walking together, grooming, riding, laughing, and simply spending time together. Those in-between moments often become some of the favorite images from the session.
Family Photography with Horses
Photographing a family with horses requires a little more planning than a traditional family session.
I have spent years working with horses and understand how important it is to work around their behavior, energy level, and comfort. We don't have to force a horse into a particular pose. Instead, I use the horse's natural movement and personality to create photographs that feel authentic.
Whether your family owns one horse or several, we can incorporate them into the session in a way that makes sense for you.
Some families want beautiful formal portraits with their horse. Others prefer photographs of their children riding, grooming, or simply standing beside their favorite horse. We can include both.
Don't Leave the Dog at Home
Of course, if your dog is part of the family, they belong in the photographs too.
Dogs can add a completely different energy to a family session. They don't always cooperate perfectly — and that's okay. Some of the best photographs happen when everyone isn't looking at the camera.
For this Argyle family session, including the dog helped tell a more complete story of their family and their everyday life.
That's what I want from family photographs: images that look like your family, not somebody else's Pinterest board.
North Texas Family Photography
I photograph families throughout Argyle, Denton, Ponder, Flower Mound, Bartonville, Northlake, Lantana, Southlake, and the surrounding North Texas area.
For families who have horses, I also specialize in horse and rider photography and equestrian portraits. My experience with horses allows me to photograph them safely and confidently while also helping families feel comfortable in front of the camera.
Whether you're looking for traditional family portraits, photographs with your horse, or a session that includes the entire four-legged crew, your session can be designed around your family and your location.
Family Photos That Feel Like You
Years from now, you'll probably care less about whether everyone was perfectly posed and more about seeing the people — and animals — who were part of your life at that moment.
That's why I approach family photography with a balance of direction and flexibility. I'll help with posing and composition when needed, but I'll also give your family room to interact naturally.
If your family includes horses, dogs, or both, let's make them part of the story.
